NBA 2K16-4: Roanoke Railguns, Seventy-Win Season Stiil Technically Possible

a season of association…

Turning down the foul sensitivity on this game was a good decision. We aren’t gaming experts and don’t plan to spend months mastering NBA 2K16… just want to splash some long range shots and fastbreaks. Then I’m out… this is just an exhibition…

The Roanoke Railguns are winning most every game since that adjustment from the commissioner. Lots of hacking goes unpenalized by referees. If this were real life, the media would be going nuts, asking was the rule change too drastic? Yes. Yes, it was.

Tommy Heaton reaches through the basket
to goaltend Danny Green’s shot.

No one notices Heaton’s highlight block

The San Antonio Spurs were rated 1st in every category when the Railguns came to town. The Spurs have better hands than the visiting team, picking off passes and blocking our shots. They outscored Roanoke in first quarter, but slipped from there. ARG win.

Then, struggling Minnesota hosted Roanoke. We figured out how to watch our team play without actually playing–put the mini controller between the teams before or during the game. The CPU runs nice plays while we just run-n-gun…

But we didn’t trust the computer to play our style of lockdown defense. Took over control midway through the first quarter and beat the Timberwolves 70-39 with a bunch of open three-pointers and mid-range twos. Joe Dumars had a triple-double, or close.

Panthro Wang finishes the break.

Already peeked ahead to our first showdown vs. Cavaliers and Warriors. One month away…

The Railguns were 5-2 and on a five-game win streak. Coach says, we have a chance to go 80-2, with an eighty-game winning streak……

Does NBA2K adjust the game as real life circumstances change? Trades, injuries… if Chris Bosh is out for weeks, does the game ‘read’ that online and do it, too?… just curious.

Rodman embarrasses Carmelo Anthony.

Roanoke went home and the New York Knicks were waiting. Not much of a challenge. Quinn Nevalove, the glue of the team, had 7 pts, 4 rebs, 3 steals and 3 assists at halftime. These are six minute quarters, remember. But he cooled off

to 11, 5, 7 and 4 to finish. Because the starters weren’t needed much in the second half. Because the final score was 76-38….

Alexandr Vikayanov, our comic book representative avatar, was en fuego , 7-9 for 16 points. Slow of foot but a deadeye.

The strategy is simple–no plans except occasional pick and roll… otherwise, we just fling the ball around quickly as possible, and open man takes it…

Road trip to Chicago. One of our created players, Panthro Wang, was duplicated onto the Bulls roster. Which makes for some weird moments.

But the other Panthro couldn’t keep his team in the game when they’re down by 30… final score, 83-47.

Simulated next three games, and immediately a few predictable things happened–the Railguns lost a game, won the next two, and two players (Wang and Nevalove) are injured for a few weeks. Too bad, but there just ain’t enough time in the so-called real world to play all 82, even at half the clock time…. we’ll see all these teams again….

current record: 9-3
