Here, There, and Everywhere
Remember those “this word=that word” memorization sheets you would get in foreign language courses at public school? Those never worked that well for some of us. At least, not alone.
That’s why we don’t simply want to teach and learn straight-up translations, in these Cebuano-English lessons. 
Sometimes the this=that is straightforward enough. Other times, we like to get into why things are said, and in different situations. And, we like to use pictures.
Here—“Diri.” Pronounced like DEE-ree, with a rolling of the tongue on the R.
Over here—“Ali diri.” This is used when calling someone who may be a bit far from you.
Come here— “Dali diri.” Similar to ‘over here.’
Come with me—“Kuyog nako.” KOO-yog nah-KOH. The “yog” is said as the first syllable in yogurt.
There—“Didto.” Can be used for ‘over there.’
Go there.—“Adto didto.”
Stay here—”Pabilin diri.”
I am coming—”Padung nako” or “padulung nako”. Specific for the person who is speaking. Nako is used to say I. You can just say “padung” if you want to be seriously efficient.
Wait a moment— “Taysa kadiyot.” TIE-sah ka-dee-YOAT.
